Traditional medicine practitioners to comply with the Code of Ethics

Accra, August 3, GNA – Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association on Wednesday called for all practitioners to comply with the law guiding the practice of traditional medicine. Nana Kwadwo Obiri, National Chairman of the Coordination, Evaluation and Monitoring Committee GHAFTRAM, said in a press conference in Accra that they have realized that some practitioners and individuals operating in this sector did not follow the required standards and regulations. He noted that with the traditional treatment which includes about 70 to 80 percent of health care delivery in this country is very important that practitioners adhere to required standards and regulatory practices as embodied in the Medical Practice Act and Code of Interest Board, the Food and Drug board of Justice and Constitutional GHAFTRAM.

Nana Obiri said in order to improve quality and maximize the benefits of traditional medicine, the Committee urged all practitioners to register with GHAFTRAM and also with the TMPC in accordance with the law. He said practitioners should also collaborate with the advertising office GHAFTRAM advice to ensure that all advertising for the Law of FDB and TMPC. He further urged the members dared to show their cards and certificates GHAFTRAM TMPC in their place, stressing that the National Coordination, Evaluation and Monitoring Committee will visit their place to ensure compliance.
