Researchers from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute had used genes jump, called
Sleeping Beauty man-made. It is a DNA sequence that can be incorporated into different parts of the DNA of the cell. scientists can use this to change the behavior of genes, to find new genes or understand how genes work.
Researchers used Sleeping Beauty as Detective in determining what genes play a role in colon cancer. Cancer gene profile in mice, scientists compared this to the profile of human tumors. Through this process, the researchers were able to find 200 genes that play a role in the development of colon cancer.
Genes can be passive or active role in the growth of cancer. Several genes, mutations, encourage the growth of colon cancer while other genes to help promote the growth of the row after the cancer was founded. The discovery of new genes was 200 would allow researchers to identify what role each individual genes play and which genes interact with each other for fuel of colon cancer.
